HANIFARU BAY (UNESCO BIOSPHERE) AND DIVING SPOTS
Maalhos is located a few minutes from the famous Hanifaru Bay, UNESCO heritage site where from May to November one can witness the largest aggregation of manta rays in the world.
A few minutes of navigation far, there are the best dive sites of the Baa atoll, suitable for all-levels divers.
he Baa atoll, famous all over the world for its extraordinary biodiversity, offers our divers the opportunity to discover dozens of dive sites that are different from each other..
In this particular area of the Maldives, the types of diving are divided into:
– Faru: small coral reefs close to the islands with a hat just above the water, steep slopes and walls, rich in fish and coral life.
-Thila: consisting of pinnacles and coral formations of various sizes and nature that rise from the seabed, up to 5-15 meters from the surface. Extremely beautiful dives, rich in any type of barrier fish and large pelagic fish, are generally deeper and more subject to changes in environmental conditions.
– Manta Point: during the wet monsoon season (from May to November), some dive sites have particular areas called "cleaning stations", which particularly attract manta rays (Mobula alfredi), undisputed queens of the ocean .
